Thuraya Unveils New Billing System

By Staff Writer | September 2, 2008

[Satellite Today 09-01-08] Thuraya has unveiled its new billing system built by LHS that is intended to provide more flexibility and efficiency for Thuraya in its customer service operations.
The improved billing system integrates all Thuraya services into a single database, which Thuraya sees as an essential step for billing convergence and ease of operations. Thuraya can also add new products and services to the billing system without major restructuring.
The billing system combines prepaid and postpaid customers in one unified interface, allowing for easier administration. The features of the new system will even allow a faster provision of specialised and customised bills that incorporate all tariffs, discounts and specific rate schemes.
“Billing in the mobile satellite services is a complex world involving hundreds of markets and SPs and hundreds of thousands subscribers with numerous rates, schemes and discounts,” Thuraya’s CEO Yousuf Al Sayed said in a statement. “Therefore, it is imperative that we have a high-quality, highly flexible and advanced billing system that supports our business and marketing plans as we move ahead.”
