[Satellite Today – 3-24-08] The Measat-3A satellite will be launched aboard a Land Launch rocket Aug. 21, Measat Satellite Systems Sdn. Bhd. announced.
Measat-3a, built by Orbital Sciences Corp., will be co-located with Measat-3 at 91.5° East and carry 12 C-band transponders providing coverage across a region bounded by Africa and Eastern Europe in the West to Japan and Australia in the East and 12 Ku-Band transponders to service direct-to-home customers in Malaysia and Indonesia.
“With the growth of our [direct-to-home]  and video distribution services, the take-up of capacity on Measat-3 has exceeded our initial projections,” Paul Brown-Kenyon, Measat’s COO, said in a statement. “The launch of Measat-3A will allow us to continue to grow the organization, developing 91.5° East into one of the region’s key satellite orbital locations.”
