[Satellite Today – 4-2-08] SES Astra has seen a strong performance in the Austrian market in 2007, the company announced April 2.
SES Astra said it had increased the number of digital satellite TV homes in Austria by 470,000 to 1.4 million households, an increase of 48.4 percent. According to company research, Austria had 3.4 million analog and digital TV households in 2007, with satellite having the largest percentage at 55. Satellite is now the driving force behind the move to digital services in Austria, SES Astra said.
“With an increase of nearly 50 percent compared to last year, satellite clearly proves to be the motor of digitalization,” Wolfgang Elsässer, managing director of Astra Germany, said in a statement. “We have consequently enhanced our offer in the past year and now provide 374 digital TV channels for the Austrian market. With this variety of high-quality programs, I am absolutely confident that we will be able to convince more and more viewers of our digital offer in the future.”
