Outerlink To Provide Satellite Tracking To Homeland Security Department

Outerlink Corp. has partnered with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to provide satellite-tracking data from all commercial satellite tracking systems in domestic use today. OuterLink will integrate satellite data feeds from MSAT-, Iridium- and Inmarsat-based tracking systems.

The program will allow aircraft operators that use differing satellite tracking systems to share position and unit identification information data to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s air and marine operations center.

TCS Receives Additional Funding For VSAT Systems

TeleCommunication Systems (TCS) received an additional $5.6 million of funding from the U.S. Army to provide additional systems to support ongoing U.S. military operations.

The systems will support operations in Iraq and Afghanistan as part of an order announced in August. The total order has a potential value of $246 million if all options are exercised.

Numerex Teams With Savi To Develop First Hybrid Tracking System

Numerex Corp. has established a technology partnership with Savi, a Lockheed Martin company, to codevelop the first asset and shipment-monitoring device that combines global satellite positioning, active radio frequency identification and satellite communications.

The hybrid ST-694 GlobalTag is being developed to market with new capabilities for both spot-level and in-transit visibility of shipments and mobile supply chain assets, such as transport vehicles, container shipments or large and valuable equipment.

EMS To Continue Work On B-2 Satellite Antenna

Northrop Grumman awarded EMS $35.7 million for continued development work on the new extremely high frequency (EHF) satellite communications system for the B-2 stealth bomber.

Impeva Labs, Agility Deploy Military Remote Tracking System in Iraq

Impeva Labs Inc and Agility deployed a new satellite service to track and monitor more than 365 U.S. military trucks operating on remote roads between depots in Dubai, Jordan and Iraq. The system provides tracking, monitoring and managing of shipments of critical goods and supplies to support troops in Iraq.

The deployment is the beginning of a multi-phased deployment to support Agility’s operations in the region. Agility, which provides logistics and freight management systems and transport vehicles, used Impeva’s global asset visibility system as part of a contract signed with the U.S. Army Logistics Innovation Agency in December.
