Hughes To Connect Largest Grocery Store Chain In Brazil

Brazilian grocery store chain Rede Smart, a Martins Group Co., will use Hughes Network Systems LLC to provide broadband satellite managed network services to its 930 stores.

    The first phase of the project will connect 300 stores to enable processing of online debit and credit card transactions. In the second phase, the remaining stores will be connected and additional value-added applications will be enabled.

Southwest To Offer Inflight Broadband Internet

Southwest Airlines and broadband satellite provider Row 44 have partnered to test satellite-delivered broadband Internet on multiple aircraft.

    Customers on Southwest Airlines flights will have full access to the Internet via a high-speed connection. Southwest hopes to begin the test on four aircraft this summer.
