      Astrium Services Extends SES-4 Maritime Capacity Lease

      SES and Astrium Services have signed capacity deals to deliver connectivity to vessels around Latin America as well as in the North Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

      Astrium Services will renew capacity on the SES-4 satellite to provide its customers with managed services for maritime business communications, tracking equipment and engine performance as well as ensuring crew at sea to stay connected. Astrium Services will use the capacity to meet several specific communication needs, including VSAT coverage for oil and gas activities offshore of Brazil and East Africa.

      NewCom, USAID Partner to Aid Colombian Initiative

      Communications provider NewCom International has partnered with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and a group of other public and private sector organizations in a pilot program to bring 21st century communications to Colombian schools located in the most violent-prone regions.

      NewCom is providing the phase one pilot program, which targets 26 schools located in the remote and unstable region of Nudo de Paramillo Region in Northern Colombia, with satellite-based Internet services.

      Telespazio Utilizes SES-4 Capacity for Brazilan Network Expansion

      Telespazio Brasil S.A. has signed a long-term capacity agreement with SES to expand its corporate and government networks across Brazil.

      Telezpazio will utilize the new SES-4 satellite’s Ku-band capacity to deliver companies operating in remote inland communities with high-speed broadband and high-quality voice, also providing strategic coverage to drive the implementation of a VSAT network.

      The delivery of telecom services over the SES-4 satellite has already been initiated by Telespazio Brasil to Brazilian corporate and government customers.
