Australian Satellite Communications (ASC) has chosen the Evolution platform from iDirect to implement a DVB-S2 network covering Australia and New Zealand, iDirect announced.
ASC said it will leverage the next-generation platform to introduce new services for existing and prospective customers, gain bandwidth efficiencies and introduce new service offerings throughout Asia-Pacific region
The network will provide broadband voice and data services over Ku-band, expanding ASC’s investment in the iDirect platform to introduce multiple service plans to support a wide array of bandwidth intensive and real-time IP applications across the mining, oil and gas, government, maritime, enterprise and small business markets.
ASC said it plans to move its customers onto the Evolution network to expand the number and types of applications that can be run over their individual networks, such as interactive video. Eventually, ASC intends to upgrade all its existing hubs to Evolution.
