NASA, Brits, To Cooperate On Lunar Programs

NASA and the United Kingdom will cooperate on lunar exploration missions, under a new agreement.
The British National Space Centre and NASA will work together on programs to explore the moon.
Teams from the two space agencies will work together to vet proposed missions to the nearest heavenly body. Many missions will be aimed at developing expertise that could be used in later missions to Mars.
President Bush set forth a goal of the United States going to the moon on visits, then to set up a permanent lunar outpost, and then to head out on manned missions to Mars and other points in the solar system. But funding for those missions hasn’t appeared. (Please see separate story in this issue.)
