Comtech Receives Satellite Equipment Order From The U.S. Army

Comtech Telecommunications Corp. received orders from the U.S. Army Communications Electronics Command for satellite equipment.

    Under the $17.7 million contract, subsidiary Comtech Mobile Datacom Corp. will provide mobile satellite transceivers, satellite bandwidth, satellite network operations, engineering services and program management to the Force 21 Battle Command Brigade and Below-Blue Force Tracking program, a battle command real-time situational awareness and control system.

    The orders are expected to be completed by the end of June.

Globecomm Captures Satellite Services Contract

Globecomm Systems Inc. has been awarded a contract by an unnamed U.S. government prime contractor to help provide satellite, data, voice and microwave services.

    Under the contract, subsidiary Globecomm Services Maryland will provide engineering support, teleport services and equipment to support service to locations in the Middle East, Africa and Asia as well as certain Pacific and Caribbean islands.

    The contract includes four options year and could be valued at up to $42.4 million.

Hughes Wins Indian Banking Contract

Hughes Communications has been awarded a 400 million rupee ($10 million) contract to deploy a banking network across India.

    Hughes will deploy the network for running core banking solutions to 1,300 branches of the State Bank of India. Hughes will offer turnkey solutions like satellite-based virtual private networks, networking equipment such as routers and switches, and managed services, including system integration and network management.

MDA Receives NASA Contract

MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (MDA) received a 39.5 million Canadian dollar ($40.2 million) contract to provide continued support to NASA’s Johnson Space Center for robotic elements.

    The contract, which includes options valued at 36.3 million Canadian dollars ($36.9 million), continues sustaining engineering services provided by MDA to support the space shuttle Canadarm and its inspection boom as well as the robotic work station on the International Space Station.

    The follow-on contract will continue that support through late 2010.

SpaceDev Wins ILOA Payload Contract; Tests Spacecraft Motors

SpaceDev Inc. has been awarded a contract by the International Lunar Observatory Association (ILOA) to conduct requirements definition and preliminary design of the ILO spacecraft’s astrophysics and communications payload.

    ILO is intended perform astronomical observations from the South Pole of the moon as well as engage in commercial communications activities.

    SpaceDev completed the first phase of development on the ILO spacecraft in December, testing the spacecraft’s four hybrid rocket motors.
