[09-25-07 – Satellite Today]  Inmarsat has approved EMS Technologies Inc.’s eNfusion HSD-400 High-speed data terminal for use with the Inmarsat SwiftBroadband network, EMS announced Sept. 24.
The terminal is the first commercially available product approved for use with the SwiftBroadband network, EMS said.

"With the launch of SwiftBroadband and our announcement to launch the third I-4 satellite next year, Inmarsat is in a strong position to capitalize on the need for in-flight connectivity,”Michael Butler, Inmarsat’s president and COO, said in a statement.

In use since June 2005, the terminal is software upgradeable to support SwiftBroadband and offers background class and streaming class services. Users pay for the service by the megabit, and the terminal offers guaranteed data rates at 32, 64 and 128 kilobits per second.
