By Staff Writer | July 2, 2007

Math and science teachers, and college students studying to become teachers, who live near certain locations can apply to fly on zero-gravity aircraft flights, Northrop Grumman Corp. [NOC] announced.

There are Northrop Grumman Foundation weightless flights and hands-on workshops at Baltimore, Bethpage, N.Y., Colorado Springs, Colo., Dallas, Los Angeles, Newport News, Va., New Orleans and Washington, D.C.

Those living near these locations can apply, and special consideration will be given to educators in underserved communities and at schools with underperforming math and science scores.

Flights currently are planned for late summer and autumn this year.

Applications are available at http://www.northropgrumman.com/community/weightless.html on the Web.

The Northrop Grumman Foundation Weightless Flights of Discovery program is designed to inspire students to pursue science and technical careers by first inspiring their teachers.
