By JJ McCoy | June 29, 2007

Genesis 2, the second experimental pathfinder spacecraft for Bigelow Aerospace, was placed into orbit June 28 by a Russian Dnepr rocket, the company announced.

Genesis 2 is designed to test systems intended for use in manned commercial space modules. The module has a flexible outer surface that is wrapped around a central core at launch and then expands into orbit through air inflation.
