By JJ McCoy | June 13, 2007

TerreStar Networks Inc. filed a request with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission to extend the launch milestone for its TerreStar-1 satellite, the company announced June 11.

Satellite manufacturer Space Systems/Loral notified TerreStar that delivery of the satellite has been delayed by 10 months due to problems with the S-band low noise amplifiers, oscillators and feed array. The new delivery date is August 2008, TerreStar announced.

TerreStar, a majority-owned subsidiary of Motient Corp., requested that the launch deadline be extended to September 2008 from its current milestone date of November 2007.
