Korea Plans To Make Satellite Imagery Available

South Korea’s Ministry of Science and Technology plans to begin selling images collected by the Arirang-2 satellite to foreign countries through France’s Spot Image.
 
Korea’s Chosun Ilbo newspaper reported May 18 that Spot will redistribute images of all parts of the world except South Korea, the United States and the Middle East, each of which the Korea Aerospace Research Institute instead will offer images for sale.  The institute will be paid 60 percent of the revenue generated by those sales, with Spot guaranteeing a minimum of $5.4 million for the service.

Images of North Korea will not be made available.
