Griffin In China

By Staff Writer | October 9, 2006

NASA Administrator Michael Griffin visited China, meeting with leaders of the Chinese space program and others.

Griffin said China has impressive capabilities in space programs, adding that Chinese space personnel and programs are “fully the equal of any other country doing these sorts of work, certainly nothing other than to be proud of.”

Other, lower-level meetings between Americans and Chinese space programs personnel are slated.

Separately, China this month lit up U.S. spy satellites with a ground-based laser, raising concerns about their vulnerability.
