EuroNews Adds African Dimension

By Staff Writer | November 22, 2004

EuroNews, a pan-European news channel, made its debut in Africa, thanks to a deal with leading satellite pay-TV operator Multichoice Africa. The introduction of the channel will be a boost to English, French and Portuguese speakers across Africa because they now can hear international news in their preferred language. MultiChoice is present in many territories across east, west and central Africa, and EuroNews will now be available to 160,000 new viewing households.

EuroNews execs have hailed the deal, with Philippe Cayla, chairman & CEO of EuroNews, commenting, “MultiChoice Africa’s strategy to offer three specific satellite bouquets in the three main languages in Africa is a real success. This multilingual approach perfectly fits in with EuroNews, and we are delighted to start a strong partnership with MultiChoice Africa.”
