      • Hughes Network Systems Inc. expanded its relationship with JSC Ukrainian Satellite Systems. Under the new agreement, HNS will supply JSC with a Direcway network operations center and an unspecified number of DW6000 remote satellite terminals. Financial terms were not disclosed.
      • Paris-based Alcatel Space inked a pact valued at $174.1 million to build the fourth Meteosat Second Generation (MSG) satellite, called MSG-4. Under the supervision of the European Space Agency (ESA), Alcatel Space, a unit of global telecommunications solutions provider Alcatel [ALA], is leading a consortium to build the MSG satellites. The first satellite in the series, MSG-1, was launched in August 2002, while the second spacecraft is scheduled to be deployed in early 2005. The MSG program is intended to help ensure the long-term viability of Europe’s satellite weather forecasting system.
