SES Americom Seeks To Tweak AMC-12

By Staff Writer | October 4, 2004

Columbia Communications Corporation, a SES Americom acquisition, filed an amendment with the FCC to its pending application for modification of the AMC-12 satellite at 37.5º West. The amendment provides new technical information about increased ERP levels and a polarization plan (see File No. SAT-MOD-20020517-00078).

Technical issues are important to handle on a timely basis with the FCC. No new service appears to be on the horizon but improved performance by the satellite could be a byproduct of the changes.

SES Americom is the U.S. subsidiary of Luxembourg-based SES Global, which is the world’s largest satellite organization.
