Comsat Acquires Brazilian Carrier

      Comsat International Inc. purchased Vicom Ltda., a provider of satellite services and metropolitan fiber circuits in Brazil, from Net Servicos de Communicacao S/A. Under the terms of the contract, Comsat acquired all the shares of Vicom as well as the use of certain fiber-optic infrastructure owned by Net Servicos. With the acquisition, Comsat will be offing a full range of communications services, including VSAT services, throughout Brazil. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
