More Connexion By Boeing Modems Ordered

By Staff Writer | August 16, 2004

If the orders are an indication of how the Connexion By Boeing service is growing, expect to see more planes next year with the service on board. ViaSat Inc. [VSAT] said the company received a follow-on order for 85 airborne modems from the Connexion By Boeing division of The Boeing Co. [BA]. A ViaSat spokesman told Satellite Today that a plane typically carries only one modem.

With this order, the number of planes flying with Connexion By Boeing service could rise well-above the 200-airplane mark. ViaSat said 150 airborne modems have been delivered to date, and this latest order brings the backlog to more than 100 additional modems.
