Intelsat Bid Could Come This Weekend

      Satellite Today has learned that Intelsat‘s board members have met to consider proposals that could bring in more than $4.5 billion once the auction for the company ends. Reports are that an undisclosed number of private-equity firms are competing in the auction, and rumor has it that affiliates of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. LP, The Carlyle Group and Providence Equity Partners Inc., could be one of the bidders. That group recently cleared its final regulatory hurdle en route it its purchase of PanAmSat Corp. [SPOT].
