MB Tech Tests Flat DBS Antenna

By Staff Writer | August 11, 2004

MB Tech Inc. [MBTT] completed successful tests of a proprietary, portable, software-driven, auto-positioning flat antenna for direct broadcast satellite (DBS) services. According to the manufacturer, the antenna does not need to be bolted down or attached to a rooftop or alcove; it also is easy to stow away.

This type of antenna will open up two markets. It could be an ideal solution for such mobile users as RV and boat owners who want to have satellite television in their recreational vehicles. The second, and perhaps bigger, market that could be drawn to this is renters or owners of apartments or condominium. With some locations having restrictions on placing a satellite dish on the property, this could be the alternative that would give subscribers in those situations an alternative to traditional cable services.
