DirecTV Lures New Customers With NFL Sunday Ticket Offer

      DirecTV Inc. late yesterday launched a new promotion to boost new subscriber numbers. The company is leveraging its exclusive contract with the National Football League (NFL) to offer new subscribers four months of free “Total Choice Premier” with local channels or “Opcion Premier con Canales Locales” with the activation of the 2004 NFL Sunday Ticket Package and a one-year commitment to the programming packages. NFL Sunday Ticket activation will cost new subscribers $249 (four payments of $62.25). The Total Choice Premier and Opcion Premier will cost $36.99 and $33.99 per month, respectively.

      DirecTV also said it will broadcast as many as 100 games in high definition this season, which will be available to NFL Sunday Ticket subscribers. The games getting the HD treatment will be determined on a week-by-week basis.
