BT Hooks Up Eutelsat Deal

By Staff Writer | July 19, 2004

BT Broadcast Services (BTBS) signed a deal with Eutelsat to boost its satellite broadband position in Europe. It selected Eutelsat’s D-STAR service to complement its existing capabilities for two-way broadband. BTBS’ “Satellite Broadband Enterprise” service will use D-Star to provide IP connectivity to corporate sites at bit rates as fast as 2 Mbps downstream and 1 Mbps upstream. D-STAR is totally independent from any terrestrial infrastructure, and it is particularly adapted for LAN-to-LAN connections.
