By Staff Writer | June 30, 2004

Officials with the United Kingdom’s Maritime and Coastguard Agency said trials are underway that involve the use of satellite technology to identify marine pollution originating from shipping. The program is intended to serve as a deterrent to ship owners and operators. Specific details on what earth observation satellites are being used were not disclosed, although the agency did say the data would flow through the Kongsberg Satellite Services ground station.
