PanAmSat [SPOT] is confident that high-definition TV (HDTV) will continue to be a major growth opportunity for the company. The operator already is a strong player in the HD arena, and it plans to build on this emerging niche still further. Mike Antonovich, PanAmSat’s senior vice president of global sales and marketing, told Satellite Today, “In terms of the new channels we contracted for over the last 12 months, I would wager about 60 percent of them have been HD. A lot of exciting opportunities are still coming up.”

An in-depth interview with Mike Antonovich can be found in the June 23 issue of Inside Digital TV. For more information about subscribing to Access Intelligence’s satellite newsletters, check out our Web site at http://www.satellitetoday.com
