Anik F2 Preps For Launch

      Arianespace said the Anik F2 satellite has arrived at the company’s spaceport in French Guiana, and it is undergoing initial checkout in preparation for its scheduled July 9 launch. The satellite, built for Telesat Canada, is a Boeing [BA] 702 bird; it will carry 38 Ka-band transponders, 32 Ku-band transponders and 24 C-band transponders. The satellite, to be launched on an Ariane 5 rocket, will be positioned at 111.1 degrees West longitude. It has a contracted operational lifetime of 15 years.
