Microsoft Connected Car Technology Named Best Telematics Solution of 2004

      A panel of automotive and telematics technology experts selected Microsoft Connected Car Technology as Best Telematics Solution at Telematics Update Awards 2004. Powered by Windows Automotive technology, the Microsoft package provides drivers with a voice-controlled customized navigation system that features Global Positioning System (GPS) and MapPoint technology. Drivers can access turn-by-turn directions and points of interest without taking their eyes off the road. The technology also features personal digital assistant (PDA) and cellular-phone integration, allowing drivers to make and receive calls with both hands on the steering wheel through the voice-controlled audio system. Other contenders for the award included Motorola‘s [MOT] Global Telematics Platform, General Motors‘ [GM] OnStar, QNX Software Systems Ltd.’s QNX Neutrino realtime operating system (RTOS) and Intelematics Australia Pty Ltd.’s DriveZone TSH.
