General Dynamics Buys TriPoint Global Communications

General Dynamics yesterday announced its acquisition of TriPoint Global Communications Inc., a private provider of ground-based satellite and wireless communication equipment and integration services for video, voice and data applications worldwide. The agreement, set to close in the third quarter, stipulates that TriPoint Global Communications will become part of the General Dynamics C4 Systems business unit, which integrates secure communication and information systems, and technology.

“This acquisition will enable us to expand our product offerings to our traditional tactical communications customer base, and will give us new capabilities to meet the developing mobile communications requirements of defense and other government customers,” said Jerry DeMuro, General Dynamics’ executive vice president and group executive for Information Systems and Technology. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
