NRTC Redesigns Relationship With DirecTV

By Staff Writer | June 2, 2004

DirecTV Inc., a unit of The DirecTV Group [DTV], today said the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC) and DirecTV have agreed to end NRTC’s exclusive DirecTV service distribution contract, effective immediately. NRTC also announced a new, non-exclusive arrangement with DirecTV to replace the one that had given its members exclusive rights to distribute most DirecTV services in rural NRTC territories since 1994.

In connection with this agreement, the NRTC terminated its separate pacts with its members and affiliates, including Pegasus Satellite Television, to sell DirecTV services, effective 90 days from today.
