ViaSat [VSAT], based in Carlsbad, Calif., was the provider of a general aviation Internet modem deployed in the launch of the new Connexion by Boeing airborne broadband service. The Boeing Co. [BA] chose Viasat to design, develop and produce 55 airborne broadband terminals for the business aviation market. The engineering and production of the data transceiver router server (DTRS) subsystems are part of an agreement between Connexion by Boeing and Rockwell Collins to launch the latter company’s eXchange mobile Internet access service for operators of business aircraft. Connexion by Boeing also offers its service to commercial aircraft.
