Atmel, u-blox Intro New Aiding-GPS Receiver

By Staff Writer | May 18, 2004

Atmel [ATML] and u-blox today announced the Antaris GPS technology, jointly developed by the two companies, now features an innovative aiding functionality that makes the time to first fix in only four seconds, suitable for applications requiring instant position fixes, like E911/E112 mobile phone calls. The aiding parameters provide ephemeris, almanac and rough initial position (if available) through a synchronization signal. Using this information, the GPS receiver can determine which satellites to search and track.
