iDirect, Others Benefit From U.S. Military Action

      iDirect, a provider of satellite-based IP services, is one of a number of satellite companies receiving a significant boost in revenues by meeting growing military demand for satellite services. With the U.S. military deployment in Iraq and Afghanistan, iDirect has been helping to address the rising demand for bandwidth. Bruce Bednarski, iDirect’s senior vice president of business development and marketing, said the military has looked to the commercial satellite market to use off-the-shelf technology to supplement the U.S. Department of Defense’s traditional sources of bandwidth. Bednarski offered his view of the market during an interview with Satellite Today at the SkyForum conference in New York City today.
