BSkyB Goes Mobile To Boost Sales

By Staff Writer | February 26, 2004

BSkyB, the biggest pay-TV operator in the United Kingdom, has unveiled plans to introduce a number of new mobile sales units to demonstrate the benefits of products such as its DVR (Digital Video Recorder) offering, Sky+. The mobile sales units will debut at the U.K. Ideal Home show in March.

Each Sky branded vehicle will feature a self-seeking satellite dish, two large plasma screens and four LCD screens. Each screen is connected to a Sky+ box. BSkyB hopes these new units will drive subscriber sales and aid its bid to reach 8 million subscribers by the end of 2005. It already has more than 7.2 million U.K. subscribers.
