Orange France Unveils GPS Services on Smartphones by Webraska

By Staff Writer | February 24, 2004

Orange France, a Paris-based subsidiary of Orange SA, plans to make mass-market Global Positioning System (GPS) navigation services available on the Orange France network during second quarter 2004.

Orange France’s GPS navigation services would enable the company’s subscribers to convert their smart phone into a mobile co-pilot by purchasing a special kit. The kit would allow the mobile phones to provide turn-by-turn navigation instructions in real time across Europe. Webraska, a provider of GPS and voice-enabled wireless navigation technologies, developed the software application.
