TANDBERG Provides Turnkey Video Product To Intelsat

TANDBERG Television, an Orlando, Fla.-based supplier of open solutions for digital broadcasting and broadband, is providing Intelsat with a turnkey video product, including digital compression and control and monitoring equipment. The relationship also would involve integration services for a hybrid satellite and fiber network, connecting seven sites between the United States and Europe.

The installations of both standard and high definition equipment would be completed in spring 2004 to connect teleports in Riverside, Calif., and Fuchsstadt, Germany, with five points of presence sites (POPs) in Washington DC, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver and New York City. Intelsat teamed with Level 3 Communications [Nasdaq: LVLT] to create the fiber optic video network.
