UDcast To Provide Satellite Broadband For French Digital Divide Project

By Staff Writer | December 16, 2003

UDcast, a French provider of software and hardware for broadband Internet access and datacasting over satellite, has been selected by system integrator Genedis to spearhead France’s first large-scale digital divide project.

Faced with the task of bringing broadband connectivity to local authorities, schools, clinics, tourism offices and research institutes, the French Brittany and Loire regions have developed a regional high-speed fiber network. However, with many organizations located out of reach of the fiber area, the decision was taken to extend the network using UDcast’s two-way satellite technology.
