Europe Star Provides Broadband via Satellite In Ireland

      Europe Star, a London-based satellite operator, is working with Ireland’s South West Regional Authority to provide rural communities in Ireland with high-speed Internet service via Europe Star 1. The service will provide broadband data rates in both directions using compact VSATs. The satellite equipment is being supplied by Reston, Va.- based iDirect. Italy’s Netdish is operating the service from its teleport in Venice. Wireless local area networks are being deployed to deliver the Internet service to the local communities. No financial terms were disclosed.
