EADS Gets GBP2.5B Skynet 5 Contract from UK

      The European Aeronautic Defence and Space Co.‘s(EADS)subsidiary Paradigm Secure Communications has signed a GBP2.5 billion ($4.24 billion) contract for the Skynet 5 satellite communication system for the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD). Under the contract, Paradigm will be responsible for all UK MOD satellite communications requirements, including the maintenance and operation of the ground infrastructure, control center, and fixed and mobile terminals.

      Paradigm will contract with EADS Astrium for the design and manufacture of two Skynet satellites, complete launch services and corresponding ground segment.
