Diamond Aircraft Adds Garmin’s G1000 To DA40

By Staff Writer | October 3, 2003

Diamond Aircraft has selected Garmin International‘s G1000 integrated avionics system for the 2004 DA40 Diamond Star aircraft. The DA40 features a dual-display G1000 system, a 10-inch primary flight display (PFD) and 10-inch multi-function display (MFD).

The G1000 replaces most of the analog gauges and separate radio modules on the DA40’s panel with two large-format, XGA-resolution color displays. The integrated avionics system is mounted in the rear of the aircraft and is linked to the displays via high-speed databus technology. Garmin International, a unit of Garmin [Nasdaq: GRMN], has integrated the following components into the G1000 system: digital audio control panel; dual integrated radio modules that provide IFR oceanic-approved GPS; VHF navigation with ILS; VHF communication with 16-watt transceivers and 8.33-kHz channel spacing; mode-S transponder with traffic information service; solid-state attitude and heading reference system; and digital air data computer.
