Harris Wins Telesat Canada Contract

      Harris [NYSE: HRS] has inked a deal with Ottawa-based Telesat Canada to provide a satellite command and control system to support BS 601 and E3000 satellite bus types. Telesat operates a fleet of satellites for the provision of broadcast distribution and telecommunications services throughout the Americas. Telesat’s newest satellite, the Anik F1R, is based on the Astrium E3000 satellite series. Melbourne, Fla.-based Harris will provide the command and control system for the satellite within 12 months. Harris Technical Services Corp. (HTSC), a subsidiary of Harris, will base the Telesat satellite command and control system solution on the Harris OS/COMET product line.
