Satellite Industry Leaders Discuss Digital Divide

By | September 12, 2003 | Uncategorized

Representatives from the U.S.-based Satellite Industry Association and the European Satellite Operators Association met earlier this week in Paris to discuss how the organizations could cooperate to bridge the international digital divide between developed and developing countries.

The satellite operators discussed cooperation in advocacy and governmental outreach to build positive national regulatory environments that reduce barriers to the deployment of advanced satellite communications systems. They also discussed ways to convince governments to reduce fees and regulatory barriers that could become obstacles to cross-border satellite service provision.
