Lockheed Wins EchoStar Contract

      Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] Commercial Space Systems (LMCSS) has won a contract from EchoStar Communications [Nasdaq: DISH] to build an A2100 geosynchronous satellite for the satellite TV company. The satellite, designated EchoStar X, will provide distribution of direct-to-home broadcast services across the continental United States, Alaska and Hawaii following its scheduled launch in the third quarter of 2005. Financial terms of the deal weren’t released. The EchoStar contract marks the fourth new commercial satellite order received by LMCSS, a business unit of Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT].
