Citroen To Offer Satellite Navigation Using Trafficmaster

By Staff Writer | September 8, 2003

French car maker Citroen has announced that it is offering Trafficmaster‘slatest satellite navigation system, Smartnav, as an approved accessory on all vehicle models in the United Kingdom. Smartnav will be available through the Citroen network to both private and business customers beginning Sept. 22.

Citroen has worked with Trafficmaster since 1997, providing traffic data direct to the car and currently every C5 model comes with a Trafficmaster unit as standard equipment. Smartnav uses Trafficmaster’s live, incident, historic and predictive traffic data to calculate routes around traffic delays and alerts drivers if there is a better route available.

Citroen currently holds some 5 percent of the U.K. car market. Smartnav can be purchased for GBP570 plus value-added tax and installation, depending on model.
