AAA: GPS Telematics Improve Vehicle Safety

By Staff Writer | August 8, 2003

An American Automobile Association study recommends that hands-free GPS navigation systems be used in vehicles because they are safer and less districting than paper maps. Unlike a paper map or pre-generated directions printed off the Internet, a GPS system does not require the driver to take his or her eyes off the road, AAA said.

Not only does a GPS system keep the driver’s eyes free, it also keeps his or her hands free as well as, unlike a paper map or printed directions, the study said.
