DirecTV Teams With Nielsen

DirecTV, the satellite TV unit of Hughes Electronics [NYSE: GMH], has signed an agreement with Nielsen Media Research to measure and publish ratings data for advertiser-supported networks delivered on the DirecTV platform.
DirecTV said it will be the first national digital multichannel service provider to have its audience calculated by Nielsen, a step designed to enhance its advertising sales efforts by providing advertisers and their agencies the ability to identify the viewing patterns of subscribers.
