Rent-Way Chooses Spacenet for Satellite Retail Data Network

Spacenet, the U.S. subsidiary of Israel’s Gilat Satellite Networks [Nasdaq: GILTF], has been awarded a five-year contract by Rent-Way to provide a two-way satellite-based IP network to all of Rent-Way’s 750 rental stores. The network will be deployed by Sept. 1.
Rent-Way’s Connexstar Enterprise network is designed to support a variety of services, including point-of-sale and inventory control applications, as well as Internet and intranet access. The Spacenet network also is designed to support future applications such as stored value cards or customer loyalty programs.
