Microspace To Provide Satellite Content Distribution for John Deere

By Staff Writer | July 29, 2003

Microspace Communications, a Raleigh, N.C.-based operator of business satellite broadcast networks, has been selected by John Deere‘s [NYSE: DE] Worldwide Commercial and Consumer Equipment division to establish and deliver content for a business television network using satellite services.

John Deere needed to improve its communications capabilities for monthly meetings with employees. The division was using a combination of the Internet and teleconferencing to connect eight remote sites for its monthly meetings with employees. Attended by more than 5,000 employees, the meetings allow the sharing of information, such as division and company-wide goals and accomplishments.

“We determined that the web casting medium doesn’t work well for large groups with many locations. Satellite technology offers the opportunity to see and hear the speaker in real time, rather than just see his PowerPoint presentation,” said Kim Lott, manager of employee communications at the division.
