Galaxy COO Optimistic For 2003 Launch

By Staff Writer | July 25, 2003

Galaxy Satellite Broadcasting, the Hong Kong pay-TV satellite joint venture formed by Intelsat and Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB), has not set a date yet to begin commercial services, although it is still on track to launch this year.

Galaxy COO Stanley Tang told SATELLITE TODAY that the company was still on track to launch its pay-TV service this year, although there was still much to be done. “We hope to begin offering commercial service in the fourth quarter of 2003. We have not fixed a date yet. We need to put together quite a few things. We need to continue to secure some more content from the international channel providers and also work on our preparations in other areas such as marketing.”

An exclusive interview with Stanley Tang can be found in the July 23 issue of Inside Digital TV. For more information about subscribing to PBI Media‘s satellite newsletters, check out our Web site at http://www.telecomweb.com/catalog.
