The National Aeronautics and Space Administration has scheduled an August launch for SciSat, a Canadian scientific satellite. The mission marks the first new Canadian scientific satellite to be launched since 1971. The major scientific goal of the mission is to measure and understand the chemical processes that control the distribution of ozone in the Earth’s atmosphere, especially at high altitudes. The mission is designed to last at least two years.
